Like a crazy person, I have this master spreadsheet with all the new releases for the year that I want to read. There are 96 books on my sheet…so I just don’t know that I am going to get to them all. However, so many of my favorite series are getting a continuation or favorite authors are releasing new stories, so I just feel like I gotta get to these eventually! Enjoy the September list and let me know if I missed anything you are excited for!
September 2nd
Fearful (Novella) by Lauren Roberts – Roberts technically finished this trilogy in April with Fearless, but announced shortly after that she would be tying up a few loose ends with two additional novellas. This novella is set during Fearless and after, following Kitt and someone named Maya. That’s really all the blurb gives us! I will be reading this, but I do feel like this is a bit unecessary…

Wild Reverance by Rebecca Ross – I absolutely loved Divine Rivals (on Kindle Unlimited!) by Ross. It felt like Greek mythology reimagined mixed with a WW2 historical fiction. The sequel, Ruthless Vows (also on KU), fell a little flat for me but I still really liked it. Wild Reverance is based in the same world/magic system as Divine Rivals, but this time we get the point of view of a goddess. It sounds like a Romeo-and-Juliet-esce story with a goddess and mortal romance as well as a valiant effort to right the wrongs of the past. Definitely interesting!

Burn Bright by Krista and Becca Ritchie – For those of us still thinking about Rose and Connor from the Calloway sisters series (on KU), this is the first in “the Cobalt Empire”. We did get Jane’s happily ever after in the “Like Us” series – also on KU – (which I have yet to finish because why is it 13 books) and now we’re getting kid #6 of 7, Ben. He is considered the black sheep, is transferring to college in New York, and is now living with all of his brothers. These books give Kardashians in all the best ways, so I will be reading this…right after I read the last four books in Like Us.

September 9th
Wild Card by Elsie Silver – My plan for September 9th is to work 9-5 and then go home and read this book start to finish. HA only kinda kidding! Our second Elsie Silver book in 2025, and I cannot wait. This book, and all of Elsie’s, are on Kindle Unlimited. Wild Card is the final book in the Rose Hill Ranch series and this time we are following Sebastian and his son’s ex-girlfriend. I do not typically like this trope/storyline but Mrs. Silver tends to change my mind so I will give it a try!

People Watching by Hannah Bonam-Young – HBY has quickly become a top author for me, after loving 3 of the 4 books I’ve read by her. Also look at how cute this cover is! Prue and Milo’s story sounds exactly like a Hallmark movie and I think that will be just what the doctor ordered this fall! Just a cute story about two people with lots going on in their world, but they still seem to find each other again and again.

September 16th
The Things Gods Break by Abigail Owen – This is the sequel to The Games Gods Play, a book (on Kindle Unlimited!) that I have been meaning to get to since it came out. Oops! Maybe this will get me to read both. The Games Gods Play is a spin on Greek mythology, with our main character somehow getting mixed up with the god of death, Hades. There is a Hunger Games-esque type of challenge and then I really don’t know what happens next. This is definitely getting bumped up the TBR, so opinions to come!

The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand – My Aunt Kimmie is an ADAMANT Hilderbrand fan, but, to be honest, I feel a bit intimidated by the entire Nantucket world. There are like 30 books all interconnected – what a commitment! The Academy is Hilderbrand’s newest idea, co-authored with her daughter Shelby, following the students of a New England boarding school through all kinds of drama. This honestly sounds like a fun time and I can’t wait to try out her writing!

September 23rd
The Primal of Blood and Bone by Jennifer L. Armentrout – I have read nine books this year to be ready for this release, which was originally in June. Since I really got back into reading a few years ago, the Blood & Ash universe has been one that I have been wanting to tackle. As a heads up, each book is absurdly long and slightly confusing. The series is slowly getting traditionally published if you are interested but want to wait for that. The Blood & Ash universe follows Poppy, a girl chosen to be the Maiden, basically a sacrifice to the gods. However, Poppy is stronger than people think and starts to unravel the lies and secrets around her, leading her to Hawke, her guard that starts to make her question everything she has ever been taught.

A Steeping of Blood by Hafsah Faizal – This is the sequel to A Tempest of Tea, a book that I added to my Goodreads in spring of 2024 after seeing @rachelcatherine give it 4 stars. A Tempest of Tea (on KU!) is a super unique idea for a fantasy with a sketchy tearoom for vampires leading the city’s outcasts to try to take down a snooty vampire society. I still need to read book one but once I do, I hope I’ll be excited to jump right into the second!

Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver – Confession time: I have never read anything by Weaver. However, I have heard nothing but great and hilarious things about her serial killer romances (crazy combo of words), so I definitely wanted to add this to the list. Tourist Season follows Harper, a local who kills any tourist who happens to enter her land, and Nolan, a revenge killer who has one last target, Harper. Well, an investigator comes to town so they decide to team up and you can guess what happens next. Sounds like a fun Halloween read!

Thief of Night by Holly Black – The sequel to Book of Night (on Kindle Unlimited)! Book of Night has been on my TBR forever but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Book of Night follows Charlie, a thief who has made her living off of stealing from magicians for other magicians. Now, she wants a change of pace but she might just be in a little too deep.

September 30th
Soul Searching by Lyla Sage – I just finished Sage’s Rebel Blue Ranch and I am so excited for her next release. Soul Searching is based in Sweetwater Peak, a whole new “universe”, and has some kind of supernatural element. Sounds like a cute small town romance except she can talk to ghosts…

Holiday Ever After by Hannah Grace – This will not be read until December because I don’t start Christmas-ing until after Thanksgiving – oops. I think it is the exact plot of a ABC Family movie I was obsessed with as a child, so I am pumped to curl up with a blanket this winter and speed through!

Every Spiral of Fate by Tahereh Mafi – I’ve been waiting for this one! We are finally getting the fourth book in the Woven Kingdom series, a Persian mythology inspired fantasy after being left on the craziest cliffhanger in book three. The first three books are on Kindle Unlimited, so I’m hopeful the fourth will be as well. We follow Alizeh, a royal servant who is actually the long lost heir to a forgotten kingdom, as she navigates a world where everyone is suspicious of her because of her beautiful eyes.

That’s all for me today! Super excited for these but definitely still cranking through the first half of the year’s releases. See you soon!
