Top 10 Must-Read Fantasy Books on Kindle Unlimited

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Kindle Unlimited ($12.71 a month!) is so freaking worth it. Fantasy is a genre that scares some people, but one that I have loved since the 3rd grade. In my opinion, fantasy is the perfect solution for the more stressful times in life, giving you a world to get lost in with no similarities to your own. These books have either been on my mind since I read them or have been on my TBR since the moment I heard about them. Here’s 10 series (some unfinished) to add to your list!

  • The Crowns of Nyaxia Series by Carissa Broadbent
    • 4/5 – This is vampires meets Hunger Games in the best way. Broadbent writes romantasy so freaking well, mixing in lots of spice with a really engaging plot and world structure. Broadbent has said her plan for this series is six books, with three sets of 2 novels and each duology following a different couple in the same world. I really liked the first two books so much. They were so fast paced and unpredictable at every moment. I definitely want to read the rest of Broadbent’s books!
  • Letters of Enchantment Duology by Rebecca Ross
    • 4.5/5 – This is a fantasy version of World War 2 and I LOVED IT! Iris and Ronan are tasked with covering the war on the front lines, and they slowly grow closer together. Iris believes she is writing to a complete stranger on her magical typewriter and has joined the war effort only to find out more information about her MIA brother. Roman is the actual recipient of Iris’ letters and also her greatest enemy. With the war getting closer and closer, they begin to establish a friendship and to unravel what is actually going on in the front lines.
  • Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
    • 5/5 – A CLASSIC! This series is just a perfect escape and a favorite for so many. Our main character, Harry, finds out he has magical powers and is asked to attend a magical boarding school. He can’t seem to just have a normal year though.
  • Plated Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy
    • 4/5 – Such an interesting magic system and I never saw any of the twists coming. Auren is kept in a beautiful cage and loved by King Midas. Then, she starts to realize that he is keeping secrets and maybe the cage is not as wonderful as she thought. This is a very long series, with seven books out now, and it has plenty of spice and adventure. It never felt confusing or overwhelming, but the powers and magic system were super unique. Definitely a must!
  • Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros
    • 4.5/5 – This is the official name for the Fourth Wing series. The third book (that just released) is not on KU quite yet but the other two definitely are! This is a classic that I feel like everyone has heard about. The overall vibe is an adult Harry Potter with dragons. We follow Violet Sorrengail, the fragile daughter of a war general, who was so sure she would be a scribe. Suddenly, she finds herself in the middle of the rider quadrant doing her best to keep up with her much more qualified classmates. There is rumored to be a total 5 books, but the three out now are definitely worth your time!
  • Artefacts of Ouranos Series by Nisha J. Tuli
    • 3.5/5 – Our main character Lor has been locked up in Nostraza for years now but suddenly finds herself in a whole new kingdom competing Bachelor-style for the spot of queen. Rather than one-on-ones, there are deadly challenges made even more deadly because Lor is the only mortal competing against ten Fae women. The story only gets crazier from there and these four books are the perfect escape without ever being too confusing.
  • Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
    • HAVEN’T READ YET – This is a classic for so many and I wish I had read it in middle/high school when they all did. I do not want any spoilers, so I have not looked it up other than to add to my Kindle library. There is a Netflix show (cancelled after two seasons of course) so that is going to be my reward after reading. 🙂
  • Crimson Moth Duology by Kristen Ciccarelli
    • 5/5 – Literally a top 10 fantasy of all time! Of this duology, only the first one is out right now with the second coming out in February. In this world, witches used to to be in power but now are being prosecuted. Our main character is a ditzy rich girl by day, criminal witch by night. She has to hide her identity and maintain her society image while saving her fellow witches from execution. There’s a bit of enemies to lovers and a lot of adventure. It’s just an easy yet unique book to love!
  • Kindred’s Curse Series by Penn Cole
    • 4/5 – I have read the first three books, and I am sorta patiently awaiting the fourth. These books are so similar to Throne of Glass in the slight romance but also not giving men the time of day. Also, there is just so much adventure and you never know what will happen next. We follow Diem through her mom’s sudden disappearance and the endless questions that pop up after. The world is so interesting, with each realm having a different kind of power, and I just love the way Diem moves through the story and interacts with others.
  • Shepherd King Duology by Rachel Gillig
    • 4/5 – Another duology with such a unique concept! A gothic fantasy where a deck of cards hold all the power. Our main character, Elspeth, is battling a voice in her head while those around her are just worried about who has what cards and avoiding the ever-growing sickness-causing fog throughout the forest. This was unlike what I normally read, but I really did enjoy it.

That’s all for me today! See you soon!
