Weekly REPORT #2: Exploring My Favorite Places

I am going to start posting these on Mondays as a sort of screenshot of my past week. This week was Fall Break and I was in 3 cities in 4 days (Cincinnati, Louisville, and Nashville). Definitely not the relaxing vision I had, but so much fun regardless. Then, this weekend I went to Columbia, SC to visit a best friend from home. I’m exhausted but also so happy.

Reading: I am all over the map in this category. I finished the Shatter Me series (LOVED), Counting the Cost (was and still am secretly obsessed with the Duggars), The Woman in Me (Britney’s autobiography… WOW), and then I started two new series, The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Definitely a great reading week!

Eating: In Nashville, I got to go to Assembly Food Hall and try an authentic Italian pizza from DeSano Pizzeria and a local ice cream place, Hattie Jane’s. Both were 10/10! In Columbia, I got to visit an old favorite, Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli. It’s a tradition to stop in Columbia on our way to Hilton Head Island for family vacation and grab Cinnamon Roll Deli in the morning, so this was so fun taking my friends there!

Playing: Kelsea Ballerini released her newest album, Patterns, on October 25. I have not stopped listening since. Honorable mentions include Mimi Webb’s new single and Gracie Abrams’ bonus tracks.

Obsessing: I got the opportunity to tour the Country Music Hall of Fame during my time in Nashville and wow. My dad raised us on older country music so to see the history and the current stars I look up to all in the same place was magic. Between Elvis’ car, Taylor’s original Fearless dress, and even Kelsea Ballerini’s guitar, I could have been in there forever.

Recommending: I love watching YouTube for some reason. I think I just enjoy relating to normal people rather than shows like Gossip Girl making me feel poor :). I do love me some Blake Lively, but I will only ever find myself window shopping on the Upper East Side, definitely not living there. With that being said, my YouTuber favorites have been really putting out the content lately. Here’s a list of my recommendations:

  • Sara Carrolli: Sara is a New Jersey girlie who lives a cozy life full of Trader Joe’s runs, books, and shopping. Love her chats about her recent reads!
  • Rachel Catherine: Rachel is the Australian version of Sara. She has such a cute and comfy home and chats about all things reading.
  • Destiny Sidwell: Des just moved to Texas and has a great perspective on living far from your family. She also talks a lot about books (see a theme?) and just makes you feel like you’re on FaceTime.
  • McKenzie Morgan: I’ve followed McKenzie for a long time now and her content is just the best. She does a lot of travel vlogs, helping people like me figure out how to travel on a budget without staying in gross places or only eating one meal a day. She is also just a go-getter and always looking for the next door to open, a great person for motivation.
  • Kara and Nate: These two have been traveling for years and find the coolest experiences. Almost like watching a movie every Saturday!

Treating: Halloween was this week, so my obvious treat of choice was candy. I’ve been really loving Skittles (all but green) and Starburst (only pink and red). On a less obvious note, I have also been able to see 5 of my hometown friends this week, which has just been so good for the soul and really helped recharge me. Also got to rush the field at the South Carolina vs Texas A&M game! (see pic below)
